Friday, August 01, 2003 ::: went to the book fair at HKCEC yesterday didn't have much time nor did I have any patience I forced myself through the crowd damn that was pathetic... I don't think we deserve this - the pressure, the odour, the slowness that we HK ppl can't stand... - in search for books with slight discounts and we had to pay 20 bucks to get in I bought 1 book only at the Pageone booth, getting a 20% off, meaning that I paid $20 to get in for getting a $18.1 discount... -_-" OK, back to my story I was at the 'Magazine' booth I was looking for Scientific American I asked the woman "do u have scientific american"? "what?" "scientific american" "what's that?" "scien-ti-fic ame-ri-can" woman asked senior guy what that was senior guy: "oh yes, $788 a year" (that's $66 per copy) "so expensive..." "expensive? c'mon I'll give you a free gift... you can get a magazine for free!" and I thought, the innocent me, thought that he would give me free 1 year subscription to any magazine... I was quite interested in the Business traveller mag but later found out what the guy meant was i could get ONE COPY for free only instead of free subcription and things started to make sense to me "i can give you the dictionary, for free" "I already have 2 copies of that dictionary at home... i want to get rid of them" "oh... how about the Forbes mag, you get a free PDA, you can take a look at 1..." "no thanks" "what model have u got?" guy was not very happy with me "no i don't own a PDA, but i don't need 1" after the offer of free dictionary, free PDA, free magazines, free rotate-table clock (how silly's that), i decided it was time to leave the booth and at last I got a free NAME CARD from the saleswoman... -_-" * today I logged on to Scientific American's website, international subcription, 1 year, 12 issues, for only $55USD that's $37 per copy is that some 28 bucks cheaper for each copy? * i need some good music looking forward to new albums by the Corrs and Mandy Moore and Ronan Keating i need some good movie too so in love with Reese Witherspoon so in love with Legally Blonde the OST Leann Rime's 'We Can' is a real compliment to the film! ::: posted by Wings at 8/01/2003 05:00:00 AM
